August C. "Gus" Draeb is a Korean Era veteran having served as a JAG officer with the U.S. Army in Newfoundland, Labrador and Greenland. He served as ND Department Commander during the 1963-64 membership year, as Department Judge Advocate for twenty years and on the National Convention Commission for many years. A member of the ND Bar Association for over fifty years, Attorney Draeb is now semi-retired with his wife, Dee, to the warmer climes of Surprise, AZ.  Gus continues to maintain an active interest in his Post and the Department of North Dakota.


Donald R. "Don" Herrly

Donald R. "Don" Herrly served on active duty with the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Era completing his service with the ND Army National Guard. He led the Department of North Dakota as it's Commander for the 1993 - 1994 membership year. He went on to serve as the Alternate National Executive Committeeman for the 1998 - 2000 membership years and is currently a member of the National Public Relations Commission of The American Legion. He also serves Post 100 as the Post Adjutant. Don is an Electric System Dispatcher for Montana-Dakota Utilities Co., Inc. and lives in Mandan, ND with his wife Annamarie who serves as the Unit Secretary for Auxiliary Unit 100 and as Department Historian for the Department of ND American Legion Auxiliary.

Walter H. Rehling

Walter H. “Walt” Rehling is a Korean Era veteran having retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 after serving 20 years. Walter did duty tours in Korea (1951-1952), Italy (1 year), Spain (2 years), Turkey (2 years), Germany (3 years) and stateside assignments in North & South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, Illinois and Washington. Walter, a Distinguished Graduate of the Military Air Transport Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, is also a graduate of Dickinson State College in business as well as having a vocational teaching certificate from the University of Maryland. Walter also received a Professional Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) degree from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Walter served as the International President of the Germans from Russia Heritage Society. Walter helped organize and is the current President of the Heritage Foundation of Germans from Russia. Walter served as Mayor of Hebron, ND from 1974-1975. Walter and his family then moved to Dickinson, ND where they owned and operated a State Farm Insurance Agency until retiring in 1995. While in Dickinson Walter served on the Dickinson City Commission. In 1998 Walter moved back to Hebron where he again served on the Hebron City Council as President for multiple terms. As well as having served as Commander of Post 100, Walter was the 7th District Commander for the ND American Legion in 2002-2003 membership year. Walter, with his wife Bernice, currently live in Bismarck, ND and are the proud parents of 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
